With my work I want to inspire and surprise in execution and concept. I have a passion for nature, especially birds. My illustrations are created through a mix of traditional craft and modern digital techniques.
A creative birdie
I originally designed this bird to present my business plan in an original way to the Starters Lab. This bird is a metaphor for the starting entrepreneur. He/she is thinking about how he will create his business nest. Occasionally he drops a leaf of grass and has to re-think. But he is a go-getter and perfectionist. If the nest starts to discolor, he will repair it until it looks good. Now this yellow bird symbolizes myself as a creative person. I read a scientific article about the negative effect of air pollution. Lichen is the favourite organic construction material of long tailed tits. The growth of lichen declines because of air pollution. A shortage on lichen means eggs will be visible for predators.

The Concrete Bird
The goal of the Concrete Bird? To bring colour into the world!
With his coloured pencil he attacks grey concrete buildings and constructions. He transforms them into vibrant colours.
This transformation also changes the sad mood of the people into a feeling of happiness.

- Bird hero with wings shaped like a sword.
- Buddy of the Concrete Bird.

- When he notices inhabitants with shoulders hanging down, he knows he's on the right track.
- Allerts the Concrete Bird by flapping his wings. This produces a sound of two swordsmen fighting.

This painting was made entirely in #watercolor during my studies of graphic design. It was my first realistic animalportrait, painted with ❤️ and a lot of patience in uncountable hours. A #numbat is an Australian mammal that eats termites. (framed 58 x 68 cm)
